  1.                        INTERMAIL CONFERENCE RULES

  4. Purpose of the InterMail Conference:
  5. ------------------------------------

  7. 1.  The InterMail conference (distributed on the fidonet backbone under the
  8.     echo tag 'IM_USER') is a general discussion conference which is open
  9.     to all qualified participants.  Its intended purpose is the discussion
  10.     of InterMail, InterEcho, other products from InterZone Software and
  11.     InterMail Software Inc., as well as third party support products for
  12.     InterMail and InterEcho.
  13.  
  14. 2.  Any subject dealing with fidonet technology and products mentioned in
  15.     point 1 is acceptable, on-topic conversation, subject to the limitations
  16.     listed in the following rules.

  20. Section I - Who is qualified to participate in the InterMail Conference?
  21. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

  23.     Any SysOp, Co-SysOp, Point Node or other person interested in using
  24.     the InterMail or InterEcho software programs may participate in the
  25.     InterMail conference provided they adhere to the conference rules.

  28. Section II - Level of Support in the InterMail Conference
  29. ---------------------------------------------------------

  31. 1.  Although support for InterMail and InterEcho will likely be found in
  32.     the InterMail conference through correspondence with other users, we
  33.     strongly encourage those who wish to ask InterMail Tech Support any
  34.     specific questions to send their queries via netmail to 1:369/102.
  35.     InterMail Tech Support cannot guarantee that questions directed to
  36.     them in this conference will be answered in a timely manner, or even
  37.     at all.

  39. 2.  All inquiries or discussions about pricing and shipping is off-topic.
  40.     Any questions related to the above should be sent via direct netmail
  41.     to InterMail Tech Support of 1:369/102.

  44. Section III - Appropriate Behaviour in the InterMail Conference
  45. ---------------------------------------------------------------

  47. 3.  Please act in a mature fashion, and keep your temper under control.
  48.     In other words, NO FLAMES.  If you wish to debate an issue, please
  49.     do just that, but leave the personalities out of the arguments.
  50.  
  51.     Flames (and flamish behaviour) will be considered to include (but
  52.     not be limited to):
  53.     - Hardware/software/company bashing
  54.     - Personal attacks
  55.     - Disagreements that degrade to the point of constant yes/no
  56.       point/counterpoint, namecalling, or go beyond a reasonable time
  57.       limit where the participants in the debate should agree to
  58.       disagree and terminate the argument.
  59.  
  60. 4.  Do not use foul language in the InterMail conference.
  61.  
  62. 5.  Please stay on topics that relate to InterMail, third party support
  63.     products for InterMail (including advertising and requests for
  64.     testers), or other products from InterMail Software Inc.
  65.  
  66.     Discussions on other topics are annoying and only serve to degrade
  67.     the quality of the conference.  Such topics will be declared
  68.     off-topic, and discussion threads on these topics are expected to
  69.     terminate immediately.  Participants continuing to discuss topics
  70.     declared off topic will be dealt with accordingly.

  72.     Commercial advertisements of any type are not permitted without
  73.     first obtaining permission from the moderator.

  76. Section IV - Network related issues concerning the InterMail Conference
  77. -----------------------------------------------------------------------

  79. 6.  Acts of moderation or discipline (where necessary) shall be handled
  80.     exclusively by the ELIST-ed moderator.  Do not act in a manner that
  81.     would imply you have control over the conference unless you are the
  82.     ELIST-ed moderator.  If you feel an issue concerning the rules needs
  83.     to be addressed, netmail the moderator and he will deal with it
  84.     accordingly.

  86. 7.  Questioning or discussion of Moderator policy in the open echo is off
  87.     topic, except that the Moderator reserves the right to post special
  88.     messages relating to such policy and rules from time to time for the
  89.     edification of all participants.  I welcome, will listen to and
  90.     consider, any suggestion or criticism which reaches me by private
  91.     netmail.

  93. 8.  New connections to networks other than Fidonet must be approved in
  94.     advance by the moderator.  Unapproved connections will be terminated
  95.     without notice.  If in doubt, please netmail the moderator for
  96.     clarification.

  98. 9.  English is the only acceptable language for correspondence in this
  99.     conference.  Messages written in languages other than english will
  100.     be considered in violation of these rules.

  102. 10. Test messages have no place in an international echo.  There is very
  103.     little that can be accomplished, other than annoying people, by 
  104.     echoing a test message internationally rather than using some local
  105.     means.  If you have some question about whether your messages are
  106.     making it out to the rest of the net, feel free to contact me

  112. Section V - Conclusion of Rules

  115.    Participation in this conference indicates acceptance of these rules.

  117.    The moderator reserves the right to invent, and implement a new rule
  118.    to regulate an unforseen situation.

  120.    Please abide by the spirit of these rules, as well as their wording.
